Our work in Orkney
Based at the Orkney Research and Innovation Campus in the town of Stromness, Ðǿմ«Ã½ Orkney focuses on remote, rural and island perspectives supporting a broad range of research, teaching and entrepreneurship activities. Themes include health and wellbeing, transport, built environment, digital heritage, creative business, the graduate apprenticeship programme, and the Arctic.
Objectives
Working in partnership with local stakeholders our objectives are:
- Research and knowledge exchange that harness Ðǿմ«Ã½ expertise to address local challenges and opportunities;
- Support the development of skills, educational and entrepreneurship opportunities in Orkney, aligned to the needs of local stakeholders, that offer an excellent student experience and support social and economic regeneration;
- Creating an evidence base to influence and impact policy and practice in other island and remote and rural regions, through innovative research and teaching programmes.
